Cad 3 ‹ › × × Previous Next Flickr Album Gallery Powered By: Weblizar The Cadillac Three @ 02 ABC, Glasgow It is a busy night for gigs in Glasgow with four other venues and bands vying for your cash. I was a bit worried about the attendance before the show due to this but I hadn’t thought through this cities love of a bit of Deep South. I got my first shot of The Cadillac Three last year and like an alcoholic I was back for more as were a lot of others. Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown opened to an almost full venue last night at the ABC O2 in Glasgow. I had become familiar with their music as they had supported ZZ Top and more recently...

Bouncing onto the stage to tumultuous applause from a sell out crowd, Scottish songstress KT Tunstall raised the roof off The Sage in Gateshead last Wednesday night. Kicking off the evening with a lively rendition of her hit ‘If Only’ from her 2007 album, Drastic Fantastic, KT delighted the audience with her infectious charisma and undeniable talent for almost two whole hours, playing songs from her entire back catalogue. Having first exploded onto the music scene back in 2004 after performing her first single, ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’ on the Jools Holland show, KT’s prowess as a singer...

Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons Audio Glasgow Sunday 6th November Nov10

Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons Audio Glasgo...

Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons Audio Glasgow Sunday 6th November One of the main issues when a band are fronted by a huge icon is that the other band members tend to get overlooked. Motorhead being a perfect example. Lemmy is god, no other way to describe him, when he left us he left a huge void never to filled. But look past Lemmy for a second and take into consideration the other two members of Motorhead. Along with Mikkey Dee, Phil Campbell played an integral part in the success that Motorhead enjoyed right up to the last moment. Much more than mere sidemen they gave Lemmy something to build on and Campbell in particular weighed in...

Soil. Liberty Lies and Sons of Texas plus interview Nov09

Soil. Liberty Lies and Sons of Texas plus intervie...

For a Monday night, the Engine Rooms in Southampton had fast become packed for Soil. Liberty Lies and Sons of Texas had managed to build a massive atmosphere in the room – thanks to the electrifying performance of the latter band especially – and the punters were impatiently awaiting the main act, noughties rockers Soil. Having interviewed the vocalist Ryan McCombs earlier in the day, I was intrigued to see what the live show was like, and why UK audiences can not get enough of this band. I grew up to the sounds of Soil, Linkin Park, Alien Ant Farm and CKY, so this night is quite a blast from the past for me. Considering I was...

Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons Ep Review- Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons It certainly sounds as though life after Motörhead might well be very interesting for Mr Campbell. With his debut ep being released on the 18th of November we are allowed an insight into what he has been up to....

Album Review: Hammer...

Album Review: Hammerfall – ‘Built to last’. Remember that day when you first heard metal and you knew that was you for life? Maybe it was Saxon, or early Priest, or you might have been a later bloomer and got into Maiden with the bloke after DiAnno. Remember that feeling? The sheer...

The Fallen State; Pop Evil & 3 Doors Down, play The O2 Academy, Birmingham 3rd November 2016. I arrived at The O2 in good time for my interview with Leigh, the lead in the band Pop Evil. Unfortunately, some confusion left me standing around until. I chased some of the door-men for access to my contact. Fortunately, one of them came up trumps and had me standing by the door whilst an American lass scooted out back to find Jeff, the tour manager. Jeff came through and lead me to the bus where we waited for a couple of minutes for the bus to clear. I was then lead in to what was my first music interview (in fact, in all the time I had done...

Hayseed Dixie/ Thirteen Stars @ The Garage, Glasgow Nov04

Hayseed Dixie/ Thirteen Stars @ The Garage, Glasgo...

Hayseed Dixie/ Thirteen Stars @ The Garage, Glasgow The hillbilly hoedown rolls into Glasgow once again, this time we are the first date of the tour and going by what went down I reckon we were a testing ground as there were a few new tracks in the set and where else do you want to try out new material?( anywhere really guys as we are not the most subtle people in the world). As a support band for Hayseed dixie you have a tough ask. The majority of the punters are out for a party so they will tend to leave it till later to turn up rather than pay high drink prices at the venue. Mix that with an early start due to a curfew it means you have...

Glen Hughes – Resonate Before we delve into this album I want you to do a bit of work. I want you to think of all the bands/musicians you know who have been going for 40 years. Got them? Ok now be honest and tell me how many are still playing live at the top of their game? Your list just...

Dirty Thrills / Piston / The Killing Floor – The Big Red, London 03.11.16 Nov04

Dirty Thrills / Piston / The Killing Floor –...

Last night’s gig was in ‘The Big Red’, which is on Holloway Road in London, the most awesome of rock pubs. I’ve been there a few times now, and am always aware of the great atmosphere that this place generates. There are no attitudes in sight, which I have experienced over the years in other similar pubs. The staff are friendly, as are the clientele. Everyone’s just having a great time together! The decor is amazing, I spot something different on the walls each time I go there. Their set up works brilliantly, and despite having a very small stage, they always showcase bands that should be / or who already are...

Album Review: The Butterfly Effect – ‘B-sides, Live and Rarities’ On the one hand we have twenty four tracks of absolute quality. On the other hand, we have this release because The Butterfly Effect (TBE) are calling it quits and releasing live tracks, B-sides and the rarities as a goodbye....

Album Review: Avenge...

Album Review: Avenged Sevenfold – The Stage (2016) 7/10 When your last two albums (2013s Hail To The King and 2010s Nightmare) debut at Number 1 on the Billboard album chart, you know you’ve got a pretty good fan base and that you’d probably be able to pull off releasing a “surprise” album....

UFO, The Empire, Middlesbrough. 29.10.2016

UFO, The Empire, Middlesbrough. 29.10.2016 Well it is now Wednesday and 3 days before the legendary UFO take to the stage at The Empire at Middlesbrough, I bought my ticket today and I am like a big kid going to his 1st gig albeit about my 100th. I also enquired about a photo-pass and the girl took my details and said someone will get in touch. I have loved UFO from their earliest days back in the 70’s when I 1st heard an album called ‘Profile’ which is not listed in their back catalogue it was sort of a ‘K Tel’ mix up of songs from their 1st 2 albums UFO-1 and UFO-2. I would love them to play Prince Kajuku again but somehow I doubt it....
