Popular Irish Indie band,Penrose supported Aslan in the first of their 3 sold out shows in Vicar Street on the 27th December.
2016 has been a good year for Penrose, with a Festival performance at Sea Sessions in Donegal,2 Tours in the UK,and to round off the year nicely, supporting Irish giants,Aslan at one of their sold-out Vicar Street gigs. Definetely ones to watch for 2017.
When Penrose arrived on stage ,Vicar Street was already filling up.
Aslan’s die-hard fanbase weren’t about to miss out on anything.
Penrose didn’t disappoint.Even though lead singer,Darragh Mc Crane was suffering from a sore throat.it didn’t show, and the lads played on to the sell out crowd who were singing along to the music and dancing in their seats.
3 Arena and Olympia are next for these guys!
Their blend of sixties influenced tunes are completely fresh and different to anything else out there at the moment.
They dare to be different…and it is this that will,I reckon catapult them to new heights.
Aslan need no introduction to their Irish audience. Best known for their song “Crazy world”,their stage performance was nothing short of amazing.Their fans were real fans, who knew the words to every song, and many that I had spoken to had been to see them many times.
They kept the crowd going for the entire 2 hours that they were on stage—not bad, considering the 30 odd years that they’ve been around.
U2 (yes,Bono & co) even sent a hamper of champagne to Vicar Street to help them celebrate their sell out gigs.
If you haven’t heard Aslan yet…where have you been hiding?
