Bulletboys @ Bannermans, Edinburgh

Bulletboys @ Bannermans, Edinburgh   A lot of things ran through my head on the journey to this gig, 29 years ago I made the same journey, to see the same band for their first ever gig in Scotland…and all that time later they came back. I was more than a little excited. Due to the 2 hour journey I missed most of Budderside’s set, I got there with about two songs from the end but the Bannerman crowd had already accepted them and even with two songs I could tell why. They play an up tempo, in your face, fun slice of Rock,N,Roll. They love what they do and they play up for the crowd and photographers alike. They were a great...

Greek classic heavy metal thrashers SENSE OF FEAR

ROCKSHOTS RECORDS is proud to announce the signing of Greek classic heavy metal thrashers SENSE OF FEAR for the release of their debut album “As The Ages Passing By…”. First unleashing their self-titled EP in 2013, SENSE OF FEAR are ready to reveal their follow up full length “As The Ages Passing By…”. Years in the making, the release has an old school heavy metal feel with a modern pounding anvil. Each track was carefully selected for a good old headbanging time along with telling a unique story. The band comments: “Each song has its own gravity to the album, and all together create SENSE OF FEAR’s presentation to the world as a band...

Q.F.T single “ALIENS.” Q.F.T. or Quantum Field Theory is the solo project by singer Linnea Vikström of the Swedish symphonic metal band Therion. Gone is the operatic orchestral sound and instead we are taken back to the late 70s/80s with the likes of Starship and fellow Swedes Europe,...

H,R,H, AOR Final Day 11th March 2018

H,R,H, AOR Final Day 11th March 2018 First band of the day were going to be on stage two, I liked the name of the band before I even saw them, tHE Idol DeaD. Five lads from Leeds: Polly.. lead vocals, K.C… guitar/vocals, Tim… Guitar, Dan…Bass, ..and Nish…Drums. The minute these guys step on the stage you know you’re in for a good time, looking like a cross between the Sex Pistols and the Clash, they list some of their influences as Bowie, Pistols, Dogs Da’mour, N.I.N. and Johnny Cash. They play a mix of punk and metal or as K.C. told me afterwards “Rock n Roll punk with soul”, they definitely have soul: they delivered an explosive...

Maverick maturity is a marvel on Cold Star Dancer WITH each new album a band has to take a decision – to go on as before, or to challenge themselves. With ‘Cold Star Dancer’ Maverickhave taken the decision not to re-tread past glories, but to stretch themselves to new...

HRH AOR 6 DAY TWO.

HRH AOR 6 DAY TWO. Day two was to be split between two stages: Stage 1 the mash up, and Stage 2 the glam/sleaze stage, obviously you don’t get to see every band due to clashes. Stage one first band The King Lot, a Scottish trio who I describe as melodic with a hard and heavy edge. The three members are Jason Sweeney bass & vocals and drummer & vocals Chris Gillon, last year saw the departure of guitarist Michael Fairbairn so the newly joined young axeman Jay Moir has been enlisted and Jason says he has brought a heavier sound to the band. I really enjoyed these guys with Jason throughout the set joking with the reasonably...

Skid Row @ 02 ABC, Glasgow Mar14

Skid Row @ 02 ABC, Glasgow

Skid Row @ 02 ABC, Glasgow   Well it has taken a while for Skid Row to hit Glasgow and with new singer ZP it was time to see if they lived up to the expectations and the memories from back in the day. Before I go onto days gone past when I actually had hair other than on my face lets come back up to date with the first support band tonight Bad Touch. For me this is the reason I am here, yes I loved Skid Row, yes Toseland are good but hands down Bad Touch rock my world. It is amazing to me that I first saw these boys over three years ago and my first reaction was why the hell are they supporting, followed by and playing a venue...
