Grey Lantern re-issue Mansun are set to release a remastered six

Following last year’s Attack of the Grey Lantern re-issue Mansun are set to release a remastered version 1998’s album ’Six’ on 22nd March through Kscope. The new versions will include various outtakes, rarities and demos.

Kscope acquire iconic Mansun back catalogue

Kscope have acquired rights to Mansun’s back catalogue. The ground-breaking label will roll out a reissue campaign over eighteen months that will cover the band’s entire history and enhance their reputation as one of the most iconic and innovative bands of the 90s.

Mansun’s four albums – Attack of the Grey Lantern (1997), Six (1998), Little Kix (2000) and the compilation Kleptomania (2004) – were originally issued by Parlophone. The Kscope reissues will bring these classic records into the modern age by delving into a treasure trove of previously unreleased audio and visual material while fully remastering the original recordings for 5.1 and deluxe 180gm vinyl.

Former frontman Paul Draper commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to be working on Mansun with Kscope – the new custodians of the catalogue. The original Mansun LPs are extremely rare so I’m looking forward to reissuing the catalogue on top quality vinyl as the Mansun fanbase has asked me about this for a long time now. We have many unreleased and rare recordings to compliment this body of work. Fans can therefore look forward to a series of enhanced, reissue Mansun packages. I will be working closely with ‘Six’ & ‘Spooky Action’ mixer /engineer – Pdub – who recently mixed Bjorks entire catalogue into 5.1.”

Since the late ’90s, Kscope have helped nurture a vast number of hugely successful alternative artists (including Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Anathema, The Pineapple Thief and The Anchoress). The label recently released Mansun frontman Paul Draper’s long awaited and critically lauded debut solo album Spooky Action. The album charted at No 19 in the UK album charts and Paul has recently completed a sold out solo tour (his first ever) plus added new dates for Feb/March 2018. Kscope will work closely with Paul Draper on all aspects of the Mansun reissues.

Kscope Managing Director Fred Jude added: ‘Thanks to Impala and the full cooperation of the band, we at KSCOPE are now the proud owners of the MANSUN catalogue. Alongside Paul’s ongoing solo campaign, we are very excited at the prospect of releasing a multi-format programme of audio and visual re-issues including a vast amount of unreleased material available from the archive”

To celebrate the 21st Anniversary of Attack of the Grey Lantern and following a huge fan-driven response online, Paul Draper will play the album in its entirety on his already announced Feb/March 2018 tour. Paul’s recent sold out UK tour – his first ever live solo dates – featured a handful of classic Mansun songs.

Kscope will release a limited edition 12” of Mansun’s four track ‘ONE EP’ on December 15th, featuring the band’s first single for Parlophone ‘Egg Shaped Fred’
