Inglorious The Classic Grand Glasgow

Inglorious The Classic Grand Glasgow 10/10/2017 Music fans were spoiled for choice as to which gig they were going to go to on a Tuesday night in Glasgow. Gary Numan , The Kentucky Headhunters , Midge Ure and their support bands all playing . What a clash ! The first of many in the next couple of months I guess. Can I make it from one venue another to see the 2nd support band or catch the headlining band finish ? Too much hassle and nothing guaranteed so I stayed put where I was. I arrived at the Classic Grand as Toby Jepson and his Wayward Sons were playing to an almost full venue. I caught 5 numbers by them . Not sure how much time...

ZZ TOP LIVE AT RAMBL...

here then was an outbreak of beard envy…Every hirsute male gazing on the always impressive beards on two thirds of ZZ Top We all came for the hits and the exemplary playing, and ZZ Top did not disappoint. Opening with ‘Got Me Under Pressure’ before a blazing...

Halo Tora @ Stereo, Glasgow

Halo Tora @ Stereo, Glasgow Tonight was my first taste of Halo Tora live and the only thought going through my head as I left this grubby, sweaty and totally brilliant venue was “why the hell are these guys not massive? Due to the earlier start I missed most of The Belafonte’s set which was a shame as they looked to be going down a treat. The band class themselves as Alt-rock but that can cover many bases in this day and age but for me they are far more akin to indie. The band now how to play and can work an audience(except for some dodgy one liners and a lot of bromance). I will keep my eyes peeled out for the guys in the future....

Dirty Thrills – Law ...

Dirty Thrills – Law Man (Single – Radio Edit) I must admit that I had not yet heard of the London rock quartet Dirty Thrills, until this new single from their upcoming album dropped into my pigeon hole – hot off the press before the album hits. At first listen, the single track Law Man...

Zone 52 Festival

Zone 52 Festival Held at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton from 9-11 June and run by NB’s Outdoor Events and Blackbush Promotions Northampton. This is the first Zone 52 Festival to be held, the weather was mostly kind although very windy. A great selection of bands, from local unsigned bands to top tribute acts. It was unfortunate that the dates clashed with another huge music festival, as well as local events. Although the audience was small, every band gave their best. Day 1   started off with The Touch, An originals band from Northampton. Rock/Pop & punk Band 2 – Austin Gold 5 piece blues outfit. Band 3 – Rob...

Album Review : Balef...

As album titles go Siesmic Shifter has to be as close to spot on as you can get. If this release does not propel the Belfast boys to new heights I will be gobsmacked. Living in Scotland we haven’t had much chance to see this bunch live but luckily I caught them at Wildfire Festival...

KILL II THIS Release Video for Brand New Track, “SLEEPER CELL.”   Sleeper Cell is available as a free download from the band’s website:  http://www.kill2this.co.uk   British metal band KILL II THIS has released a video for new track, “SLEEPER CELL.”  Speaking about the new song, guitarist and producer Mark Mynett said, “We’re having a blast in KILL II THIS at the moment and we’re really proud of Sleeper Cell.  Stylistically it’s the result of the four of us each putting our own stamp on things.  It still has that KILL II THIS sound but it feels really fresh.”   Vocalist Simon Gordon said, “With all the new material we’re writing we’ve...

Cutlass – EP Review...

Cutlass – EP Review From the moment you put on Cutlass, it will rip through your speakers with its grungy doom sound and with vocalist Lucy Grogan’s dark and wicked siren song, it will blast you to smithereens. The EP starts with Death Bell which is dark and gloomy, and...

Miami Monroe @ Broadcast, Glasgow

Miami Monroe @ Broadcast, Glasgow Following on from a storming set supporting Single By Sunday In January, Miami Monroe take to the stage of Broadcast for a headline set before they set off on a whirlwind UK tour. Support tonight was by One Way Street, Better Days and Not Today and they put on a cracking show each and every one. They were all perfectly suited and this meant that the mostly Miami crowd were happy and I am sure the bands picked up some new fans north of the border. I will certainly be looking out for them when they are back up this way. As much as the support bands were a great teaser tonight was all about Miami...
